American Idol Reveals Top 6 During Dramatic Night | American Idol

And the Idol Fan Save is back...... What's the point of having America vote, only o give East Coast watchers (and Twitter users) the ability to change things?! Rant over. "American Idol" is nearing the finish line, and the top 7 would become the top 6 after tonight. The past 2 weeks since he save was introduced, Rayvon has found himself them each time. First, he bested Daniel Seavey, followed by Qassim Middleton. Would he wind up there again? The host with the most (and still rocking that gorgeous beard) Ryan Seacrest welcomed us to the show and informed us there would be TWO rounds tonight. No time to waste though, so who was the first person through? 1. Tyanna Jones - "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" by Frankie Lymon Well, it was good. Unfortunately, that's all I can really say about my beloved Tyanna's performance. Vocally, it was decent, but there was nothing really compelling about it. The judges needed more of an edge from her, with yours truly echoing their statements. 2. Clark Beckham - "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder Now THAT is a performance!! Keeping up with his usual spot on vocals, Clark delivered but also added some more personality which the judges noted & loved. The best part for yours truly was the unique scatting at the start, which made the performance even better and ALL Clark!! 3. Jax - "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin WOW. WOW. WOW. Jax gave us a whole new side of herself tonight with a STELLAR rendition of the Janis classic. Jax was hitting notes I had no idea she could hit. Admittedly, her performance last week of "Poker Face" rubbed me the wrong way, but she completely redeemed herself this week. Incredible!! 4. Nick Fradiani - "American Girl" by Tom Petty & he Heartbreakers American boy singing about an American Girl!! Nick brought his swag this week with his first performance, and it was so much FUN!! Also fun? Watching Jennifer Lopez rock out during the performance. The judges, led by Harry Connick Jr. , 5. Quentin Alexander - "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT!! At least so far. Quentin came alive during his Lenny number, and commanded the stage from the very first second. However, the real drama of the night came AFTERWARDS. Quentin received some harsh criticism from Harry about the vocal, and when Ryan approached Quentin, it was obvious he was upset.....but not about what you think. Quentin called this "whack", and proceeded to say how one of his best friends would now be going home. This being, Rayvon or Jax who were the bottom 2 waiting for the Idol Fan save. Quentin left the stage, but Harry wasn't finished. He called Quentin's words highly disrespectful, saying the show has given him this platform, and he just spat in the face of it. Quentin RETURNED to the stage to reiterate his point, which was that he meant the bottom 2 was whack, and not the show or the competition in general. AWKWARD TV LADIES AND GENTLEMEN...... Who was in the wrong? Quentin for speaking his mind.....or Harry for calling him out on live television? And will this hurt Quentin next week? Back to competition though. Joey and Rayvon would sing the round 1 track, and then we would move onto round 2!! Joey Cook - "My Funny Valentine" by Frank Sinatra Have to keep things real everyone: As good as this vocal was, and IT WAS......I was bored. Joey looked gorgeous and the vocal was stunning, but it never took off Rayvon Owen - "Long Train Runnin'" by The Doobie Brothers From the VERY first note....... He was flat. Performance wise, Rayvon gave it his all, but the vocal was very underwhelming. I really do like Rayvon's voice, but something happened tonight that threw him off. The judges praised the performance but still called for growth. Not feeling it though. ROUND 2! 1. Clark Beckham - "Moon River" by Frank Sinatra Giving me Michael Buble realness!! Clark shockingly showed a very different side of himself with his cover of Sinatra, and you know what made this different from Joey slowing things down? Clark kept me captivated from the second he started and he was using different runs in his voice. Really did love this very much!! 2. Tyanna Jones - "Proud Mary" by Tina Turner The judges praised Tyanna for the performance, but yours truly felt it was lacking something. When you perform "Proud Mary", there HAS to be an insane amount of energy, and for me, their wasn't. Tyanna was jumping all over the stage, but it didn't feel authentic. 3. Nick Fradiani - "Only The Good Die Young" by Billy Joel Nick had one HELL of a night!! His rendition of the Billy Joel classic was one of the best performances of the night, and the arrangement was actually my favorite part. It didn't completely change it, but it was enough to make it very memorable. Jennifer and Keith loved it and Harry commended him as well. 4. Quentin Alexander - "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel  Would anyone really be able to concentrate on the performance after what happened earlier? Jennifer was he first to comment on Quentin's outburst earlier, but reminded him that he's there for a reason. The vocal was decent, but his pitch was really off this time. Still standing by the first performance as BEST of the night though. 5. Jax - "Beat It" by Michael Jackson Odd song choice. But she didn't pick it, America did!! And it was a MESS from the start. The song was clearly not in Jax's repertoire, and it showed right from the first beat. The whole performance felt messy and awkward, with her trying to jam out with the guitarist. Not a fan. 6. Rayvon Owens - "Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Like, for real? He winds up in the bottom 2 for the 3rd week in a row....and brings me to tears. Absolutely stellar vocal and it's a shame that he's in the bottom again. Just wow. 7. Joey Cook - "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane What a different take on the classic track. Did it work? Yes and no. The vocal was of course great, but the rendition left me scratching my head. It felt odd at times, but as a whole I did enjoy it. Unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye. After a VERY close 52%, the contestant that bested with the 2 % was..... Rayvon. Admission, that the results shocked yours truly, and has me wondering: What would the competition look like WITHOUT the fan save? Thoughts?
