Due to low ratings, the American Idol summer tour rescheduled or cancelled nine different tour dates.
The tour, which showcases the contestants from the past season, was supposed to kick off June 29th, but “due to production scheduling changes, the American Idol 2013 Tour will now begin on July 19th and go through the summer until August 31st,” a rep for the tour said.
Cities affected by the changes include St. Louis, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Detroit, Tulsa, Broomfield, Las Vegas and Oakland.
Tour organizer, Jared Paul, who planned concerts for Glee and Big Time Rush, expressed his doubt over Idol‘s tour success.
“You have to match the public’s interest,” Paul explained. “Whether somebody will part with their hard-earned money is all talent-dependent.”
The concert will include season 12 champion Candice Glover. No matter what changes the tour has the show’s rep wanted us all to know that “the Idols look forward to performing in 30 venues across the country.”
