Authorities have located Casey Kasem and have determined that he has been treated well and has not been in any danger.
Kasem was reportedly “on vacation” in Washington state when he was found. An officer on the case said that the legendary radio talent was “alert, upright, dressed, groomed and cognizant of what was going on."
During a court hearing on May 12th, the performer’s medical condition and whereabouts were unknown after an attorney for Kasem’s wife would not disclose those specifics. The hearing had resulted from a dispute between Kasem’s wife, Jean, and his children from a previous marriage who had claimed Jean had been preventing them from seeing their father and withholding basic information regarding his location and state of health.
Kasem’s daughter Kerri released a statement saying, "We are grateful to the local authorities for finding my dad. We are one step closer to bringing him home."
The 82-year-old former “Top 40” host and voice talent is suffering from Lewy Body Disease, an affliction with symptoms similar to Parkinson’s.
A follow-up hearing to evaluate Casey Kasem’s well-being is scheduled for June 20th.
