Everyone’s new best friend, Amy Schumer, recently received the Trailblazer Award at Glamour UK’s Woman of the Year awards--and it was well deserved.

The comedian had many things to say—all of them hilarious and thought-provoking, much like her sketch show Inside Amy Schumer  on Comedy Central. She was honoured with the award, and started by saying “I’m not nervous.” She then went on to say, “I’m probably like, 160 pounds right now and I can catch a d—k whenever I want.”

Apparently on the red carpet, Amy was asked if she felt out of place at the Glamour awards. She of course responded by saying, “No, I am glamorous.”

Some say her speech was vulgar and bawdy, considering she was at the Glamour Awards.

To those people, I say you’re entitled to your wrong opinion.

The entire speech was really just a critique on modern society having a typical definition of glamour, fawning over skinnier women, and ignoring those who aren't a size two. While all sizes are beautiful, and health is what matters, there is still this predisposition towards glamorising women who veer towards the skinnier side.

Last year, while hosting the Golden Globes, Tina Fey noted that Matthew McConaughey had lost 42 pounds for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, followed by, “also what actresses call, being in a movie.”

So yeah, eff these beauty standards and accept people for who they are and the words that come out of their mouths, not by their appearance.

The speech was honest, funny, and just damn amazing, and proves that Amy Schumer well and truly deserves the trailblazer title.

Congratulations, Amy Schumer, you comic genius you.

So PopWrappers, thoughts on Amy’s speech? And do you watch her show, and if not, are you more inclined to now? Let us know.
