There is no sane music fan in this world that doesn’t feel sad every time Amy Winehouse comes to mind. Her greatness is definitely not forgotten and a documentary is now coming to remind us of the sweet days she was still singing for us, with a poster and a release date
It’s been known for a couple of years now that Asif Kapadia (Senna
) has been working on a documentary about the life and work of Amy Winehouse. The poster for Amy: The Girl Behind The Name
, seen above, works perfectly in terms of affection, as it’s only showing part of her face in black and white. With the acceptance of the late star’s family, the film is now expected to arrive in theaters in the United Kingdom this coming summer, on July 3. Produced by James Gay-Rees, the tribute movie’s date is set only 20 days before the anniversary of the songstress’ death and has been greatly praised by both her relatives and the creators. Universal’s David Joseph said of the film:
“About two years ago we decided to make a movie about her — her career and her life. It’s a very complicated and tender movie. It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius.”
If the signs are anything to judge from, this documentary is set to be a great piece of work. Apparently, people have been working behind the scenes to make sure they get all things Amy Winehouse and don’t miss a single detail of her personal and professional matters. Here’s to hoping it ends up being the outstanding tribute she deserves.
