I'm definitely as confused as you are, because I have not been excited about this Angry Birds movie at all. I was annoyed at how popular it was--and I still am! But what I'm really confused about is how they managed to rope in this amazing cast, announced today after a fan campaign to launch one billion slingshots. The film includes comedic all stars like Peter Dinklage, Maya Rudolph, Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Keegan Michael-Key, Kate McKinnon, and Danny McBride.
"I'm extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they're surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent — these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we're thrilled to have them all on board," said producer John Cohen in a statement.
They basically picked up SNL favorites and Peter Dinklage. I want to know how, and I want to know what will become of this movie. "Our filmmakers are cooking up a hilarious movie, and we know these fans can't wait to see how they're going to bring the Angry Birds' story to life on the big screen of movie theaters." said Dwight Caines, the president of theatrical marketing for Sony Pictures. This is starting to look a lot like how The Lego Movie looked for me when I first watched the trailer and thought "Why are they making a movie about this?" and found it stupid, then watched it and found it to be one of the best movies I've seen this year. Now I'm sort of interested. I need people to watch it before me first. Please don't disappoint me. Looking at you, Peter Dinklage. Angry Birds hits theaters July 1, 2016.
