Throughout the years, many films are being based on Marvel Comics. The actors and actresses who were chosen to play the roles transform themselves into the Marvel character they are going to play. Some recent films include Avengers:Age of Ultron (2015) starring Robert Downey Jr. Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo, Ant-Man (2015) starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily and Corey Stoll, Deadpool (2016) starring Ryan Reynolds, and Morena Baccarin.
Recently, during one of Anna Kendrick's interviews, Kendrick revealed she would like to play a character in one of the Marvel films as a superhero. The character she chose was... Squirrel Girl. The Pitch Perfect star said why during an interview with Net-A-Porter. At one point in the interview, Kendrick is about one of her former costars, Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds played the lead in another Marvel film, Deadpool. This sparked Kendrick's question about which character she could play in a film based off one of the Marvel comics. Kendrick chose this heroine because,
My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don't know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!
Kendrick seems very excited about playing the character if the role is offered to her. According to People, "For those unfamiliar with the mutant superhero, the bushy-tailed Marvel character has taken down villains including Dr. Doom and Thanos with her super strength, speed and reflexes. She can also heal at accelerated speeds and has retractable knuckle spikes for fighting. And naturally, she can communicate with squirrels and loves to snack on nuts."
If Kendrick eventually plays Squirrel Girl, she could be starring in yet another franchise. She has already been in Pitch Perfect and Twilight.
In the end, Squirrel Girl sounds like a great character and with the great acting Kendrick has shown through her past roles, this Marvel action film, would be another amazing Kendrick masterpiece.
