Arrow Adds Josh Segarra As New Star City Vigilante

The CW’s Arrow cast Josh Segarra as a new Star City vigilante in Season 5.

Move over, Oliver Queen! There’s a new vigilante in town.

With a new season of Arrow, comes new faces, it seems. Earlier today, The Wrap confirmed the news that Chicago PD alum Josh Segarra will be joining the Arrow cast of as a series regular. And, as per usual, new faces in Star City equal new mask-wearing, crime-fighting badasses.

Segarra will take on the role of Adrian Chase, the new district attorney for Star City in the wake of Laurel Lance’s death and Oliver’s recent inauguration as mayor. Fans of the original comics will recognize Chase as the alter ego to Vigilante–an appropriate pseudonym as he spends his nights seeking justice for the murder of his family. From the looks of it, he’ll be an asset to both Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow.

But Segarra isn’t the only new addition to the DC Universe. Arrow will also add Rick Gonzalez (whose credits include Mr. Robot, Rush, and Rosewoodto it’s  band of vigilantes. Gonzalez will play Wild Dog, yet another street-wise crime fighter, avenging the death of a lost loved one.

Additionally, Nick Zano will join Patrick J. Adams as a new cast member on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, playing the role of historian Dr. Nate Heywood. Given his storied family history (as the grandson to Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America), it’s likely that his character will  evolve into alter-ego Citizen Steel at some point during the shows second season.

These new additions couldn’t have come at a better time, as Team Arrow lost out big with the death of Black Canary and the departure of half the team in the season finale. Thankfully, it looks like those vacancies have been filled–though we do hope that Diggle and Thea head back to Star City soon!

Now all we can do is wait until the show returns this fall on the CW! Where’s that pesky premiere date?
