Arrow’s Marc Guggenheim Hints At Sara Lance’s Return

Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim hinted at Sara Lance’s return to The CW’s DC Universe.

Legends of Tomorrow isn’t set to debut until early  next year, but hints about the series keep coming. It’s well known that Caity Lotz is returning to The CW’s DC Universe this fall. Lotz played Sara Lance, also known as the Canary in Arrow’s second and third seasons. Sara was killed very early in the third season. While it’s obvious the character will somehow be resurrected, the details have remained a secret. Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim did disclose when, and where, we can see her return – episode 4X08 of Arrow. He told Entertainment Weekly:

“The White Canary will be launched in the first few episodes of Arrow… 4X08, our typical crossover episode, will be doing a lot of heavy-lifting in terms of getting the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ characters set up and also seeing where they are with relation to ‘The Flash’. It’s a big episode.”

Sara was previously known simply as “the Canary”, and it will be interesting to see what proves the name change. Guggenheim did address the nature of the resurrection saying, “on ‘Arrow’ nothing is easy, so it isn’t as simple as dumping her in the water“. Early promos for the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow series hint at Sara being submerged in a Lazarus Pit, which does appear to be the way she is brought back. The last season of Arrow saw Malcolm Merlyn become the new Ra’s al Ghul, who has control over the Lazarus Pit. Guggenheim commented that “Ray didn’t die in a catastrophic explosion and Sara needs to not be dead” and added that Merlyn has “a strong point of view” on the topic.

Sara’s Canary was a fan favourite when featured in Arrow and many are excited about Lotz’s return. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Arrow is scheduled to begin its fourth season on October 7, 2015, on The CW. Legends of Tomorrow may debut as early as February 2016.
