Artist and Producer Linden Tyson Speaks On Challenges Faced And Offers Insight

Hip-hop music artist and producer Linden Tyson shares a couple of the challenges that he has faced while navigating through the music industry. Tyson is an independent music artist and producer currently located in Georgia, who recently released a new single titled “Perfect“.

This newly released single from the independent music artist is the beginning of a blitz-type release plan that Tyson plans to continue through the end of the year. Tyson shares more below.

Tell us more about where you’re from.

I’m originally from Canarsie. It’s this super dope, kinda residential neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. Being from Brooklyn is like a badge of honor to me. I never hesitate to tell people that I’m from there. There’s so much good culture and great vibes there. Even though I don’t live there anymore, It will always be home to me, and I will forever be a New Yorker. I lived there for many years until I moved to Georgia in ‘07. I stay in Gwinnett County, a place I’m also VERY proud to call home.

How long have you been recording music?

Since 2017. I dropped my debut EP that year and life has been pretty sweet since.

What is your process when coming up with a new track?

Ideas kinda come to me at random, when I’m just living life. I get inspired by memories, while I’m washing dishes, watching TV or movies, or just having a conversation with someone, and depending on what’s said or done in those moments, it’ll spark an idea for me to create a song. I strongly believe & know that God’s responsible for the ideas I come up with. Without him? Me or my career wouldn’t exist.

What are some of the challenges you have faced as a rising music artist?

Insecurities every now and then. Will people like it? Am I doing the right thing here? Writer’s block, Producer’s block, pretty natural things that most creatives face. My way of combating that is just remembering to take a break and just live life. Some of the greatest ideas come when you’re just enjoying life and not thinking too much about creating.

What advice have you learned that you would share with an independent artist?

BE YOURSELF! I talk about that all the time in my music. I think it’s easy wanting to be someone or something other than yourself because of the way society influences us all to do so. I also feel it’s because, if we hide behind who we truly are, then we won’t be rejected for it or fear the idea of being such. Ultimately, I just think that’s a horrible way to live and life’s too short for that. We’re all unique and created with a purpose. I’d rather be hated for who I am, then loved for who I’m not.

Explain more about your latest release, “Perfect”.

“PERFECT” was pretty simple and fun to make. I found this drum loop I had and kinda just freestyled a little over it. I feel like I’ve reached this point as an artist where people are just so amazed with whatever I do/am doing because they’ve never seen someone do it the way I have, at the level I have, and be so successful with it. I was very inspired by the 2000 NBA dunk contest when Vince Carter did a dunk that seemed so impossible and had everyone watching, stuck and amazed. After rewatching that a few more times, I was like “YEAH! That’s exactly where I am right now. That’s EXACTLY how people are looking at me”.

What can listeners expect to be released next?

I have TONS of new singles on the way that I’m working on and hope to release before the end of this year, as well as a few BIG announcements I can’t 100% speak on yet. Stay tuned.
