@MargiePatton In the latest chapter of a strange saga, Tim Lambesis, frontman of the popular Christian Heavy Metal band As I Lay Dying, has entered a guilty plea to the charge of solicitation of murder. Lambesis had previously entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment. According to NBC Channel 7, Lambesis appeared in a San Diego court Tuesday morning to enter the plea, stemming from the charge in May 2013 that in April he had asked a trainer from his gym if he knew anyone who could murder his wife. The trainer told Lambesis he knew someone, then alerted authorities. Police then arranged for Lambesis to meet with an undercover detective posing as a hitman. Lambesis provided the detective with money, photos of his wife, key codes to her home, and times when she would be alone. Lambesis and his wife were in the process of a divorce, and the singer reportedly believed the split would financially cripple him, as well as being angry that his wife would no longer allow their three young children to tour with him. Since his arrest, details began to surface making the case even more bizarre. While raiding Lambesis’s home, police found dozens of vials of steroids and thousands of dollars in cash. His wife also claimed he had become “obsessed with bodybuilding" and had spent thousands of dollars on tattoos. Currently on $3 million bail, Lambesis is scheduled for sentencing on May 2nd. If convicted, he faces a sentence of up to nine years in prison. Lambesis founded As I Lay Dying in 2000, enjoying popular and critical success including major international tours, a Top 10 album, awards from MTV, and a Grammy nomination for the song “Nothing Left.”
