Before we saw him on the Saw franchise, you might remember him from his role as Westley on Princess Bride. Now Cary Elwes is writing a memoir about the making of the movie that made him famous in 1987. As You Wish: Tales From the Princess Bride is the title of the book, co-written with Joe Layden and to be published next year. Elwes was inspired to write about the making of the now cult classic during a cast reunion in 2012 at the New York Film Festival. "It was a joy to work on such a magical film with an amazing cast of talented actors and friends. It will be great fun to revisit The Princess Bride and to share my fond memories of the unforgettable experience we all had", Elwes said in a statement. With the help of his cast-mates, Elwes will recall some behind-the-scenes memories of the making of the film. Billy Crystal, Robin Wright, Carol Kane, Christopher Guest, Chris Sarandon and writer William Goldman are some of the contributors on this book. Director Rob Reiner will write the book's foreword. The Princess Bride was based on the novel of the same name. It tells the story of Westley, a farm boy who falls for Buttercup. After being separated for five years, Buttercup becomes engaged with a prince. It's up to Westley to get her back and show that true love conquers all. In the movie, there is a framing device of a grandfather reading his sick grandson the story. This film is one of American Film Institute's "100 Greatest Love Stories" and Writers Guild of America's "101 Greatest Screenplays."
