Ashley Tisdale has been replaced by Switched at Birth star Cassi Thomson in Left Behind, which also stars Nicholas Cage, Chad Michael Murray and Jordin Sparks, Variety reports.
The film is about a group of survivors during the first few hours after the Rapture. Paul Lalonde is producing the film, along with Jason Hewitt of Films in Motion and Michael Walker. Vic Armstrong is directing the film with John Patus writing the script for the film, which began filming, last Friday, in Baton Rouge, LA.
Thompson will play Chloe Steel, the daughter of Cage’s character who is a pilot trying to reassure his passengers. She, meanwhile, tries to find her mother and brother in the post-apocalyptic landscape. Chad Michael Murray will play journalist Cameron “Buck” Williams, while Jordin Sparks will play a passenger on the plane.
The film is based on a book series written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, which has sold over 65 million copies worldwide. The original trilogy, starting with the 2001 film version of Left Behind, starred Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains).
