This is certainly a grand piece of good news for all Attack on Titan fans – especially if your favorite character happens to be Levi. Attack on Titan: No Regrets (Shingeki no Kyojin Rivai Gaiden: Kui Naki Sentaku) will be released on DVD by the ever-generous Kodansha Comics.

The two part OVA series, which delves into Levi’s past, will be released along with two special edition volumes of the Attack on Titan manga series. Episode 1 will be bundled along with volume 18, set to be released in April, whereas the second episode will be paired with volume 19 – to be made available in August. Both bundles will be priced at $19.99.

The cast and crew from Attack on Titan return for No Regrets with the additions of Koji Yusa and Mariya Ise, who voice newcomers Farlan and Isabel. Kodansha Comics describes the plot of Attack on Titan: No Regrets as the following:

“This prequel to the megahit Attack on Titan answers the questions: How did Captain Levi of the Survey Corps go from street tough to humanity's strongest soldier? And how did Commander Erwin become a cold, calculating leader, ready to sacrifice anything to save the human race? The fires that forged this bond of loyalty and trust were intense indeed!”

Kodansha holds the license to not only the Attack on Titan manga series, but No Regrets as well; No Regrets was launched in fall of 2013 in Kodansha’s ARIA magazine with Hikaru Suruga on board as the artist and Gun Snark as the writer. Attack on Titan: No Regrets has a total of two volumes – both which are available for purchase now.

Levi lovers will absolutely want to check out both the OVA and the two-volume manga series, as it looks back at Levi’s tragic past and helps readers and viewers alike understand why he is the way he is in the present Attack on Titan timeline. I will offer one warning, though: you will shed quite a few tears, so keep a tissue box near you at all times – the feels present in Levi’s backstory are just too intense and heartbreaking.
