If dogs are a man’s best friend, then what are cats?

Raymond McNamara lost his 20-year-old cat Lily two months ago, and he was heartbroken. Lily strayed from McNamara when they were hiking from the sunny state of California, so he went looking for the Himalayan. Thankfully, the two only spent 60 days apart. When he got the police involved, they teamed up with animal services to look for Lily. When law enforcement found the cat, she was sick, but she was alive. “Lily, who is blind and deaf, had survived two months on her own ‘in the heat and in the bad weather with torrential rain. She was terribly matted and sick,’” Kathy Bieniek, an employee of Saving Sage Animal Rescue, says.

The cat was found in South Florida, and she was discovered near an area under construction. Immediately, the woman who rescued Lily contacted Bieniek through Facebook.

“The staff at Saving Sage teamed up with Pet Express Animal Hospital to nurse her back to health until McNamara was able to make the trip back cross-country to pick her up,” an ABC News article states. When McNamara and Lily finally reunited, their sweet embrace was captured on video. In that moment, the world stopped turning. He was with his baby again, and that was all that mattered.

“He broke down in tears and is never going to let her out of his sight again. She is his world. He’s got her. He’s excited,” Bieniek says.

Who says animals have no soul? They give so much life and love to the people in their lives, and men and women are lucky to have them. Hopefully, Lily and McNamara can live happily ever after without any more hiccups. The bond they share is too strong to break. Even Mother Nature couldn’t intervene.
