After about a year of finding himself, his sound, and growing personally and professionally, Austin Harms has returned with a new track inspired by his late father.
Taking one’s most personal struggles & turning them into intimately crafted songs is no small task, but with every release, Harms shows himself to be a natural. After losing his father to brain cancer in 2015, Harms was drawn to write music as an outlet for processing his pain – a message that leaves us, personally, making it even more of a priority to spend time with the ones we love and cherish the most.
“‘Gone Away’ was inspired by a conversation I had with a friend. We were driving and he said something that sounded exactly like something my dad would say – even down to the inflection in his voice – and I had this weird, sort of spiritual feeling...
I can’t really describe it other than that it was comforting, like my father was out there somewhere, speaking to me. I felt a little crazy so I didn’t say anything about it and just went home and wrote this song. I don’t think I realized it at the time, but it was representative of progress in my healing journey to be able to see things from a perspective that wasn’t just focused on the pain.” – Austin Harms explained.
After being able to look at things in different ways, and not just through pain, Austin was able to pick himself up and release a lyrical masterpiece that many who have dealt with when it comes to loss, can relate to. “Gone Away” the powerful single from Austin gives us a different side of grief in which, focuses on legacy.. hope..
