“Anything you can do I can do better,” seems to be the mantra that Australian billionaire, Clive Palmer, is operating with these days.
The “eccentric” mining tycoon has “made waves” (pun intended, I assume) with his bid to build Titanic II, according to sources
. Titanic II would be “a replica of the doomed luxury liner which sank more than a century ago,” and it’s scheduled to cross the Atlantic in 2016.
What’s more, the politico also plans to remake the 1997 blockbuster phenom from James Cameron; and not just remake it, but he told AAP that his version would be "a lot better."
"Due to worldwide interest in @titanic_ii I've registered 'Palmer Pictures'. Will look at making a movie about its maiden voyage #titanic," he tweeted.
Palmer told the AAP news agency that the movie would be filmed aboard his ocean liner, "It will be a love story," he said. "We have a lot of actors from Hollywood, China and Europe who want to star in roles. The script is still being worked on and of course we would be seeking major Hollywood stars and production people to be involved in the movie project," he explained.
The tycoon even has a cameo already planned for himself, "I could be in a deckchair having a drink."
Palmer said his Titanic II will
“feature modern modifications but try to remain as true as possible to the original,” which we all know sunk after hitting an iceberg in 1912.
Construction on the ship will begin in China in March 2014.
