The Avengers have assembled to help an ailing fan.
Marvel actors Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Henstridge, Cobie Smulders, Chloe Bennet, and Brett Dalton have all joined the #CapForStrat Twitter campaign in support of cancer patient Stratford Caldecott.
Caldecott is in the advance stages of prostate cancer and was recently told he only has a few months left to live. His daughter Sophie took to social media to try to make her Marvel super-fan father’s last days as fun-filled as possible.
Sophie’s initial mission was to reach out to Marvel to get an advance DVD copy of Captain America: The Winter Soldier for her father, who was too ill to see it in theaters and may not live to see the official home release in August. She also tweeted several Marvel actors to take photos with their character names and the "for Strat” message as a surprise for her father.
Mark Ruffalo was the first to respond and others quickly followed. Now Marvel has arranged a home viewing of Captain America: The Winter Soldier for Strat, and thousands of messages of support are pouring in from Marvel fans on top of the Marvel actor tweets.
Sophie now hopes to use the momentum of the campaign to raise awareness for prostate cancer screening. Bravo to Team Marvel for getting behind this cause, and all our best wishes to real-life hero Stratford from everyone here at PopWrapped!
