Michael Beach Joins Warner Brothers’ Aquaman

Michael Beach is joining forces with Jason Mamoa again, this time as the Jesse Kane to Mamoa’s Aquaman, facing off for control of the high seas.

Prepare for an epic adventure! Michael Beach has been cast as a high-seas hijacker in Aquaman. Beach will star as Jesse Kane opposite Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman. This is not the first time Beach and Mamoa have shared screen time, and hopefully it will not be the last. Beach and Mamoa starred together in Stargate: Atlantis years ago and now will grace our screens in the DC Universe’s latest installment.

According to Variety, Aquaman “is based on the DC Comics character who’s king of Atlantis, born half-human as Arthur Curry and half-Atlantean. He was first introduced in the early 1940s. Momoa made his debut as Aquaman last year in a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will reprise that role later this year in Justice League.”

Warner Brothers confirmed Beach’s casting alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta. Abdul-Mateen released photos with director James Wan on his social media account, showing him, Wan, and the other cast and crew members meeting with Indigenous Elders in Australia. Beach was also in that photo, sparking Warner Brothers’ confirmation and the internet’s joy.

But, according to Comic Book Movie, this does not mean Beach’s Kane will be Black Manta’s father on the big screen. The New Earth 52 storyline sees Aquaman murdering “Black Manta’s father in a fit of rage after Manta attacked Arthur and his father, leading to Thomas’ death.”

Could this lead to the “fateful interaction” Beach and Mamoa are meant to have on screen?

The DC Universe hit a new fan high since the release of Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot. We first glimpsed the Amazonian in Batman v. Superman and were excited to see her come into her own in her personal movie. November 17, 2017 will see her, Aquaman, and others return for Justice League

We will see Beach, Mamoa, Abdul-Mateen, and the rest of the deep-sea cast of Aquaman in theaters December 21, 2018.
