Ben Affleck has revealed that he was reluctant to take the role of Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel.
Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and Christian Bale have already played the role of the caped crusader, who first appeared in DC Comics in May 1939. When Affleck was asked who his favourite Batman actor was, he simply said, “It has been done very well many times before.”
Affleck told 411mania.com, “Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mould but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited.
“Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations,” he continued. “The truth is, it’s the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack’s vision.”
The first scene from the film was reportedly filmed on Oct. 19th, according to East Los Angeles College Campus News, who said,” Warner Bros. Pictures new untitled Superman/Batman project comes to film at East Los Angeles College Weingart stadium during halftime of the Oct. 19 Husky Football game.” They went on to say,” At halftime, the stadium will transform into Gotham City University home stadium. Warner Bros…. The stadium will be made into the backdrop for a football game between Gotham City University and rival Metropolis State University.”
Affleck was asked back in September about the backlash from his casting as Batman, the Argo actor said, “I’m a big boy. If I can handle an Emmy snub, I can handle anything.”
The untitled film is slated for release in July 2015
