There is nothing like a good book. It really is one of life’s greatest gifts to be able to escape into a world that is created by an imaginative and captivating writer.
Few books kept me more captivated that Gone Girl did last year. Gillian Flynn is nothing short of brilliant. After I read Gone Girl I quickly Googled her and downloaded every book she had written, and each was better than the last. I wasn’t the only person who felt this way; Gone Girl was a smash hit and is currently being adapted into a feature film.
Flynn, the author, stated that the film’s director, David Fincher, just happens to be “her all-time favorite.” When she first discovered that Gone Girl had been optioned, she hoped and prayed that Fincher would be tapped to direct. Her prayers were answered.
In a recent stop at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Flynn stated that, “My all-time favorite director is David Fincher, who I’m obsessed with and have been in a creepy weird way for a long time. I was writing Gone Girl and, this is how big my ego is, I thought, ‘I hope David Fincher makes this into a movie.’”
“The whole thing about the character Nick is you have to believe he might have done something very, very wrong. At the same time you have to be like, ‘I kind of still want to have a beer with him.’”
Gone Girl has a phenomenal cast with Tyler Perry, Emily Ratajkowski, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickers, Patrick Fugit and Neil Patrick Harris. And THAT’S just the supporting cast!
Ben Affleck is set to play the main character, Nick. Clearly, Affleck is poised to take over the world!
