The ever-popular Benedict Cumberbatch is starring in BBC's massive television series, Sherlock. Less famously, the actor has also lent his voice to Penguins Of Madagascar, but can he actually pronounce the title right? It turns out not.
Cumberbatch held narrator duties in a BBC Two documentary about the South Pacific back in 2009. A clip has now surfaced and caused massive laughter online, with fans making hilarious jokes about it. In the short clip, Benedict Cumberbatch mentions penguins, and he keeps saying the word, but fails to pronounce it right. He might even be intending to do it properly, but it comes out as either "pengwings" or "penglings". It is even funnier that it goes on over and over again, with him never getting it quite right.
Poor Cumberbatch, but hey, no one can get everything right! You're probably doing better than many of us.
Though this is still worth a giggle.
The video has been getting tons of feedback, and even managed to go viral in a very short amount of time, as the jokes made about it keep on coming.
The truth is, it's been 5 years since the Strange Islands documentary came out, so Benedict Cumberbatch might actually be doing better with the word at this point. For all we know, he could be a penguin-pronouncing expert by now. All we have to do is wait for the premiere of Penguins Of Madagascar on November 26 to finally find out. Maybe we'll even learn some penguin facts in the process!
For the time being, you can watch the hilarious Benedict Cumberbatch clip from the documentary below.
