Unfortunately, this article might break some of your fangirl CumberCollective hearts as it did mine. Benedict Cumberbatch has spoken out about the rumours surrounding him and the new Star Wars flick.
In an interview with Access Hollywood at The Fifth Estate premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival Cumberbatch made it clear that, “No offer has been made. That is that. And that is that!”
Prior to Cumberbatch vocally dismissing the Star Wars VII rumours, his rep released a statement denying the rumours as well.
The statement read:
“There is no truth to the rumor Benedict has been cast in ‘Star Wars.’ I think the rumors are circling because J.J. and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on ‘Star Trek.’”
Despite the rumours not being true, Cumberbatch did say that he “would love to work with [J.J. Abrams] again.”
Until things are officially released about Star Wars VII, we will continue to seem many rumours about the highly anticipated film.
According to Latino Review, two more actors have reportedly auditioned for the movie: Rachel Hurd-Wood from the 2003 real version of Peter Pan and Alex Pettyfer from Magic Mike.
Other actors who have been bitten by the Star Wars VII rumour bug are Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Star Wars VII is expected out in theatres by December of 2015.
Maybe it’s best for our fangirl hearts that this rumour isn’t true – I mean, just how many fandoms can Cumberbatch appear in (*cough* all of them, please*cough*).
If Benedict Cumberbatch could star in any fandom which would you want it to be? Let us know!
