Benedict Cumberbatch is front and centre as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in the new poster for The Fifth Estate that has been released.
The poster also features Daniel Brühl who plays Daniel Domscheit-Berg, a former spokesperson for WikiLeaks and author of the 2011 novel Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website – which the film is partially based on.
The film, which was directed by Bill Condon, focuses on the relationship between the former partners.
The rest of the cast is filled with class ‘A’ actors such as Laura Linney and Stanley Tucci, to name a few. And if you want to see the new Doctor in action before Christmastime, you can catch the newly announced 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, as the editor-in-chief for the Guardian – Alan Rusbridger.
Julian Assange has openly admitted to not supporting The Fifth Estate (watch the video here), calling it a “massive propaganda attack.”
Assange had been in contact with Cumberbatch during filming though, according to Digital Spy. After refusing to meet in person as to not “legitimise the film,” the two emailed back and forth which helped give Cumberbatch a better understanding of the character.
The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 5 and will be open in theatres on October 11 in the UK and October 18 in the US.
