Benedict Cumberbatch Will Be Making A Return To The Graham Norton Show

Bradleigh-Ann Walker

Staff Writer

The Graham Norton Show returns to television in October, and what better way to start a season than with the star of one of the most popular shows on TV? Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch will chat with Graham Norton during the premiere episode alongside fellow guests comedian Jack Whitehall and musician James Blunt, who will perform. Cumberbatch will be promoting his upcoming role in The Fifth Estate as Julian Assange, the man behind the infamous WikiLeaks controversy. He stars alongside Daniel Bruhl and Carice Van Houten in the Bill Condon film. Together, the three are the main figures at the center of WikiLeaks. The script is based on Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website written by Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Bruhl portrays him in the film) and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy by Luke Harding. Birgitta Jonsdottir (Houten portrays her onscreen) recently sat down with New Republic for an interview, discussing her time advising Bill Condon as he directed, and what scenes in the film are utterly false. “When I saw the script, at first, I was furious…The script was based on two books that are sort of divorce books. When you write about recent history, and you’re upset, you’re always really biased, even if there are lots of facts that are accurate,” she said. Her input, however, resulted in some scenes being edited to maintain accuracy. The Fifth Estate debuts in theaters October 18th. Watch Cumberbatch’s interview on The Graham Norton Show October 11th at 10:35 pm on BBC One.
