There's nothing this man can not do! Benedict Cumberbatch admitted on a recent web chat on Reddit that he would like to try comedy and step away from his serious roles. "I love my comedy and when the right project comes up I won't shy away from it. There's a lot of humour in what I do, specifically Sherlock, but it would be great to play a 'normal guy' in a 'normal comedy'". Benedict added that he had been learning about comedy from - who else? - his Sherlock and The Hobbit co-star Martin Freeman: "I learned from the master, Martin Freeman". Comedy isn't new to Cumberbatch, as he played the dorky Patrick Watts in the 2006 comedy, Starter For 10, featuring James McAvoy, James Corden, Catherine Tate, and Sherlock costar - Mark Gatiss. We might have to wait to see Cumberbatch in another comedy, but in the meantime, BBC One has finally released an official synopsis for Sherlock's season three first episode, "The Empty Hearse":
"Two years after the devastating effects of 'The Reichenbach Fall', Dr John Watson has got on with his life. New horizons, romance and a comforting domestic future beckon. But, with London under threat of a huge terrorist attack, Sherlock Holmes is about to rise from the grave with all the theatricality that comes so naturally to him. It's what his best friend wanted more than anything, but for John Watson it might well be a case of 'be careful what you wish for!' If Sherlock thinks everything will be just as he left it though, he's in for a very big surprise".
Don't miss the long-awaited series three of Sherlock on January 1 on BBC One, and January 19 on PBS. You can watch the trailer below:
