Beth Keeping Unveils Her Empowering New Track “Cool Kids”

“It’s a fun pop song that carefully and impressively treads the line between confidence and vulnerability, with the result being an infectious, dance worthy track to help others going through a similar experience.”

As the winner of a PRS song-writing prize and with a debut EP that reached number 3 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart, Beth Keeping has long since had faith in her own talents, and sharing them with the world has proven to be hugely beneficial not just for herself, but also for fellow music fans who have added her songs to their playlists and talked about her with their friends.

Her latest single, “Cool Kids”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, is a self-empowering anthem sure to connect with anyone who has ever experienced bullying in any form. It’s a fun pop song that carefully and impressively treads the line between confidence and vulnerability, with the result being an infectious, dance worthy track to help others going through a similar experience.

The song itself has a personal story behind it, as Beth explains:I wrote Cool Kids after I found out that a boy who used to bully me at high school now listens to my music. You often find that the kids who were picked on for being different at school end up doing interesting things as adults like creative careers or becoming entrepreneurs or high-tech scientists, so the song explores how that power dynamic changes as we grow up. It’s a fun but honest track that I hope people can relate to!”

She goes on to detail how strongly she feels about bullying and how serious an issue it is, adding: “Whether it’s at school or in the workplace, bullying happens when those who are popular or powerful in some way choose to use that power against others. And usually this behaviour is driven by something deeper such as insecurity, peer pressure, personal trauma or having been bullied themselves.”

Ultimately, “Cool Kids” does what any truly genuine, powerful song does – it makes those who hear it think, and reminds them that we all have a choice – we can choose to bully and to retaliate, or we can choose peace, and understand and forgive those who have used their power against us.
