Beyonce’s newest album is on track for keeping its place at the top of the US music charts for the third week running! The singer made quite the splash in the media when she released her album without any promotional campaign. The self-titled album will keep its place at the top of the Billboard 200 charts, having been released in digital-only format not too long ago. Some predict that the album will sell more than 250,000 copies before the end of the month, ringing in Beyonce’s new year with plenty of circulation! The singer revealed a few things about her album and recording methods in recent interviews. "When I started picking the songs that I gravitated towards, because I recorded about 80 songs, it was the songs that were more effortless to me that stuck around." If the album remains at the top of the list throughout the third week, it will mark Beyonce’s longest period at No. 1. Her previous studio albums only reached the end of the second week. However we won’t know for sure until January 2, when the new Billboard music hierarchy is announced. As to some behind-the-scenes secrets, Beyonce told interviewers what it was like to work with her husband, Jay Z. The two recorded the song “Drunk in Love.” "Jay went in and he started flowing out his verse. We just kinda had a party. It wasn't about any ego, we weren't trying to make a hit record. We were just having fun, and I think you can hear that in the record." Coming close behind in the Top 10: Katy Parry, One Direction, and Eminem. Each group/artist’s newest albums (“PRISM,” “Midnight Memories,” and “The Marshall Mathers LP 2,” respectively) had large Christmas sales after many fans received gift cards for physical and digital downloads. Justin Beiber’s “Journals” album, which features old and new tracks, was released shortly before Christmas in iTunes-only format. While this album is projected to sell several thousand copies, iTunes will not be reporting the numbers, and so the album will not be included in the New Year Billboard count. Billboard also released SoundScan’s Building chart, which places One Direction a step below Beyonce in sales. This ranking is based off of the first four days of SoundScan’s sales monitoring. Eminem and Katy Parry come in at No. 3 and 5, respectively, with the soundtrack to “Frozen” coming in at No. 6. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
