In addition to being dropped from his talent agency, accused rapist Bill Cosby was dropped from Disney World as well. A bronze bust of the comedian and alleged sex offender was removed from Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park on Tuesday after the park closed. The bust was installed in 1994 in honour of Cosby's 1991 induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. His name has since been removed from their Honorees list.
The removal was apparently in response to the Associated Press' release of 2005 court documents confirming Bill Cosby obtained quaaludes in order to drug and rape women. The Associated Press had gone to court in order to get the documents unsealed, and released them on Monday. A Change.org petition was circulating requesting removal of the statue, stating it was inappropriate for the family-focused theme park. However, someone with insider information stated the decision was one made internally and not inspired by the petition.
The statute of limitations has expired, so Bill Cosby will not face criminal charges in relation to the 40+ women who have come forward, but there still could be more civil suits to come.
