There will be blood indeed if these photos are any indication. The latest import from across the pond to hit it big on the silver screen returns to his theater roots in his latest project. British thespian Tom Hiddleston makes his mark in one of Shakespeare's most difficult and dynamic roles as part of the newest production on the West End in the historical tragedy Coriolanus at London's Donmar Warehouse. The first look at the actor in action hit the web early Tuesday afternoon. The classically trained actor leads the production with his commanding presence and sophisticated demeanor considering the violent and vicious nature of the drama as the photos show. For those who are unfamiliar with this particular work of the Bard, Coriolanus takes place in ancient times when Rome is threatened by an old enemy, the city calls once more on their hero and defender: Coriolanus, whom has enemies at home and other obstacles to face as well. Famine threatens the city and on returning from the field, Coriolanus must confront the march of realpolitik and the voice of an angry people. For those unable to make the trek to London to watch Hiddleston grace the stage, Coriolanus will be filmed and broadcast as part of National Theatre Live on January 30, 2014. Hiddleston is no stranger to the world of Shakespeare. The actor previously starred in Othello and Cymbeline on stage, as well as in BBC's The Hollow Crown film series last year, portraying Prince Hal in Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 as well as Henry V, to rave reviews. Coriolanus opened last weekend on the West End and will run until February. Check out all the blood, guts and glory that Coriolanus offers in the photos below: [gallery type="slideshow" ids="23541,23540,23539,23538,23537,23536,23535,23534,23533,23532"]
