The Sunday marathons in both Germany and London paid their respects to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. The runners in Germany observed a moment of silence while runners donned yellow arm bands with “Run for Boston” printed on them. Hamburg had a bit of a scare when a suspicious package was discovered at a station near the marathon route, but it was given the all clear and the race proceeded.
In London, they aired a video dedicated to the Boston tragedy where the voice over stated, ”The images left a city shocked and bewildered as a nation and global audience watched on in disbelief” and spoke of “a senseless act of terror.” It concluded with “Today, London stands united with Boston, remembering lives lost and lives devastated.”
Back in Beantown, support is pouring in. Bradley Cooper, who is in town for David O. Russell’s new film, stopped by Boston Medical Center to visit the bombing survivors. Cooper wasn’t alone; Senator Elizabeth Warren and Patriot’s player Julian Edelman also were visiting the survivors as well.
Also related to the Boston Bombing, a local Fox station has a bit of a snafu with their closed captioning. The caption read “Marathon bombing, he is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel,” which is not only grossly incorrect but misleading. Zooey Deschanel then took to twitter to correct things tweeting “Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL!”
