Netflix has announced a new project called War Machine which will be a film starring Brad Pitt. The film is about a four-star general and is a satirical comedy based off the novel, "The Operators". Netflix has made huge moves since premiering their own programming. The deal cost around $30 million but the theatrical release could land War Machine in the Oscar run. Netflix has already taken the Emmys by storm with House of Cards which makes film the next logical step. Production is set to begin in August with the film hitting the streaming world and select theaters in 2016.
Pitt voiced his enthusiasm for the project saying, "We are so excited to be a part of the inspiring commitment by Netflix to produce cutting-edge content and to deliver it to a global audience.”
With this kind of project in the works, Netflix may be bringing some exciting projects to the table. What's next? Maybe a Netflix film starring Al Pacino?
