Staff Writer

What do NBC’s Community and AMC’s Breaking Bad have in common?

Well, most would say not much, but it has been revealed that Breaking Bad’s all purpose cleaner and resident hitman Jonathan Banks is joining the cast of Community for eleven out of the thirteen episodes fifth season.

Banks’ character, Pat Nichols, is described as “an intense criminology professor with a mysterious background in military and police work.”

The characters first appearance will be in the shows second episode of the season when Annie (Alison Brie) enrolls in his class.

Jonathan Banks is no stranger to the small screen, having earned nominations for his role of Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad. He also received nominations for his role on Wiseguy.

He has also appeared in, to name a few, Highlander: The Series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Castle, Parks and Recreation and Modern Family.

In addition to his television roles, Banks has also made his mark on the big screen appearing in dozens of films throughout his career. These include 48 Hours, Beverley Hills Cop and Gremlins.

No official premiere date has been set for Community’s fifth season.

It expected to return to our screens sometime midseason during the 2013-2014 schedule.
