We’re getting closer to the start of filming on the latest Star Wars adventure, Episode VII, and, as yet, no casting announcements have been made. However, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from booting up the hyperdrive and jumping to light speed.
The latest name doing the rounds to be considered for a role in the upcoming film is Jesse Plemons from Breaking Bad fame.
It is believed that Plemons so impressed the producers with his taped audition that he has been called up to meet with director/co-writer J.J. Abrams for a second audition that will take place next week according to multiple sources at The Wrap.
What role exactly Plemons had auditioned for has not been identified but word has it that it is one of the leads and The Wrap speculates that given his likeness to original cast member Mark Hamill and the time passed between Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and the new film, he might be in line to play son to Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.
Plemons is just the latest in a long line of actors who have been linked to the film. These include Benedict Cumberbatch and Saoirse Ronan as well as expectations that original cast members Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will reprise their breakout roles.
Star Wars Episode VII has a release date set for December 18, 2015.
