A little over 24 hours after the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s son, the new family have left St Mary’s Hospital in Central London.
The young couple stood on the steps of the hospital and presented the new Prince of Cambridge to the waiting crowds.
Speaking to the crowd Prince William said that “he has a pair of lungs on him that’s for sure”. He also said that they are still working on a name. The Duke joked that he had more hair than him, and has his mother’s looks thankfully.
Earlier today Kensington Palace released a statement, thanking the hospital staff for their help;
‘We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received. We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone – staff, patients and visitors – for their understanding during this time,’ .
Both Catherine’s parents and the Prince of Wales have visited their new grandson, the first grandchild for both families.
