As country-pop continues to have a global resurgence, Brett Staggs is making his mark on such a music scene. Based in Pittsburgh, PA, he grew up surrouded by rock and country on the radio, and perhaps unsurprisingly, such music has gone on to inspire his own.

His musical career began when he played drums and performed backing vocals for Ricky Stein, Graham Weber and Tommy Womack, but having been writing songs since he was a teenager, it wasn’t long before he realised he wanted to be standing centre stage and turned his focus towards his own dreams and career ambitions.

With influences that include Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard – he is a man of great musical taste – among others, his songs address a wide range of issues such as

addiction, jail, relationship-wrecks and spiritual quandaries, but they’re all delivered with a distinct country feel and a little tongue-in-cheek sincerity.

He started drawing attention back in 2012 thanks to his four track EP Rio Grande, from which the track “Sinnin’ & Grinnin’” earned him licencing spots on both sides of the Atlantic.

Since then, his popularity has continued to grow and, due to release his new EP titled Nothing Bad Ever Happens To Me on October 7th, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere a track from the collection titled “Home Is Where The Party Is.”

Asked about the track, Staggs says:

I moved around a bit growing up and sort of acquired a “where I lay my head is home” mentality. This song speaks to that feeling of belonging and finding your home in all kinds of fun places!
