Priced at £18.99, the book is published in hardback by Jonathan Cape. It will hit shelves on Oct 10, and is currently available to pre-order.

The novel follows Jones in London as she attempts to balance the multiple tasks of today; “drunken texting, the skinny jean, the disastrous email cc, total lack of Twitter followers, and TVs that need 90 buttons and three remotes to simply turn on,” reports DigitalSpy.

Bridget first became the voice of the “singleton” back in 1995 thanks to her column in UK newspaper The Independent. The first book of the series, Bridget Jones’s Diary, was published in 1996. The iconic film adaption was then made in 2001, starring Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. So much British-ness. Cannot handle.

The sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, received the same treatment. Published in 1999, it was also adapted for the screen in 2004.

However if we are waiting to see good ole Bridget on the big screen again, Colin Firth may have broken our hearts, “Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a long wait. I wouldn’t say that it’s completely dead in the water, but the way it’s going you might be seeing Bridget Jones’s granddaughter’s story being told by the time we get there.”

Working Title Films has considered the prospect of a third film. They said, “We’ll only do it if we can crack it creatively, so maybe we will, maybe we won’t. We’ll see what happens. If we can get it right next year, we’ll try and do it next year, but if we can’t, we won’t.”

The first real glimpse of the new Bridget Jones reveals some things never change.
