As soon as we heard from producer Sean Garrett that Miley Cyrus would be releasing a new song with Britney Spears, we got excited!
Now Garrett has come out to inform us that the hyped up collaboration will be nothing short of “iconic”.
“We just did three crazy records for her, one of them featuring the great Britney Spears,” he told The Source at the recent 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.
Garrett is no stranger to these ladies, having worked with Britney on Blackout in 2007 and Miley on her upcoming LP, Bangerz.
He claims that working with Miley over the past year has been “a lot of fun. Miley is super cool, she’s a real cool chick, she just makes me smile.”
The process of getting Britney on the album also seems to have gone pretty smoothly, “That was really a collective conversation between Miley, me and Mike WiLL, we were just like ‘Yo, let’s get Britney on this thing’.”
When chatting to interviewers about how “epic” the pairing should prove to be, Garrett agreed. “I mean that’s the only way we know how to do it… I love both of them… that right there is iconic, you see now I’m living life.”
Miley recently compared herself to Britney in an interview with MTV about her controversial performance at the recent VMAs.
“Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, anyone that performs… that’s what you are looking for. You’re wanting to make history. Me and Robin the whole time said, “You know you are about to make history right now?””
Britney kissed Madonna live on stage in a controversial VMA performance ten years ago. But we think it’s too soon to compare the two shows. And we’re not sure Miley’s performance will reach the same legendary status.
For one thing, where Brit and Madge seemed to promote LGBT rights with their performance, Miley’s message seems less clear. Critics have even blasted her “We Can’t Stop”/”Blurred Lines” performance as sexually prejudiced and even racist.
We’re looking forward to seeing what a Britney/Miley duet will look like… Our guess is that it will be twerk-free but fingers crossed they do a music video!
Bangerz will be banging on store doors in the UK on October 7, the day before it hits shelves in the US.
Meanwhile, Britney is also currently working on her landmark eighth record. Its first single is rumoured to be called, “Werk Bitch” but no doubt this could be a total fallacy.
Check out Brit and Garrett’s previous collaboration below - the track “Toy Soldier” appeared on Blackout in 2007.
Garrett is also busy promoting his new single “Anytime”, which features Migos.
