Now that we’ve gotten that out of our system, let’s dig into what we know about the album. In the immortal words of Britney Jean Spears herself; it’s time to get to work, bitch!

Glory will be Spears’s first album since 2013’s Britney Jean. The release was kicked off with lead single “Make Me,” which dropped in July. The G-Eazy assisted single introduced a sound that was a bit left of center for Spears. Instead of taking us straight to the dance floor with the lead single, she served something a bit more intimate. Teaming up with rising producer Burns and writer Joe Janiak (Ellie Goulding) to deliver a moody and lush request to her new lover.

Thus far “Make Me” has peaked inside of the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, netting the “Baby One More Time” hitmaker her twentieth top 20 hit (we of course celebrated by ranking all 20, find that list here)! Not a bad showing for someone with nearly twenty years in the game…

Brit and her team have been teasing the album’s release for most of the year without revealing too many details. In February Larry Rudolph, Spears’s manager, promised that the album would introduce a new sound for the pop legend. After focusing on dance floor anthems and pure pop on her last few albums, Rudolph offered up names like The Weeknd and phrases like intimate to describe her new material in an interview with Las Vegas Sun.

Britney herself has referred to the album as her “baby” during several promotional appearances throughout the year. Most notably, she discussed the album in her interview with V Magazine this March. She promised that she was taking her time with the recording and was unsure of a release date at the time. “I’m not really rushing anything” Spears stated. “I would much rather have it be completely how I want it to be, whether that takes another year for me to do or two months.” Later in the interview she claimed that the album was all about her fans and that her role was much more hands on than it had been in previous releases.

Aside from “Make Me,” Spears has already released a short sample of buzz track “Private Show” via a commercial for her new perfume of the same name. The buzz track will allegedly be made available to fans with preorder this evening. Glory will also allegedly see Britney Spears collaborating with the likes of Cashmere Cat, DJ Mustard, Justin Tranter, and Julia Michaels. Michaels and Tranter are currently enjoying a wave of success after contributing massive cuts to the likes of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. With such a talented team and Britney clearly passionate about the project it seems that we have something exciting to look forward to!

Spears is set to make an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! shortly before the album will be available for preorder. It’s unclear if she’ll shed more light on the album during her time on the show; however, fans did get a glimpse of the starlet pulling off a prank on the late night host by recreating a scene from her upcoming “Make Me” music video in his bedroom.

Now if only she’d release the music video for her latest Top 20 single in full… Please continue making our dreams come true, Brit Brit!
