Britney Spears returns to Las Vegas in a thoroughly remixed, reimagined, and iconic fashion. The world is still recovering from the utter perfection that ensued…

It finally happened. Last night (February 13) Britney Spears reclaimed her throne in Planet Hollywood and launched a new run of her acclaimed Britney: Piece of Me show. After ringing in the new year with a string of shows, Spears embarked upon a month and a half long break and promised to return with something new for the fans.

The changes entailed new costumes, choreography, remixes, modified entrances, a Missy Elliott tribute, and so much more. Britney pulled “3,” “Perfume,” and “Lucky” from the setlist, swapping them out with fan favorites “Breathe On Me,” “Touch Of My Hand,” “If You Seek Amy,” and, unexpectedly, “I Love Rock N Roll.” A new setlist creates a home for all of the hits and breathes new life into the show.

Last night Britney debuted the new show and served a new level of pop perfection. Peep some of the changes below!

Piece Of Me is remixed, reimagined, still iconic from the earliest moments of the show. Gone is the metallic orb of old; instead, Britney takes the stage from behind a Femme Fatale Tour inspired metal apparatus dressed in a top hat and cape.

Britney strips off the cloak and tosses her hat before revealing the first of many new costumes, a bedazzled green bodysuit. The track transitions into “Womanizer,” which features a new Hairwhipney dance break.

The first setlist change occurs, as Britney transitions into “Break The Ice” with the most iconic transition ever. “I think it’s time for us to break the fucking ice” Britney proudly proclaimed. Bad Gal Riri may have some competition as the baddest in the game from here on out…

A quick costume change into what is quite franky the most Britney Spears costume to ever exist later, Britney retakes the stage for “Me Against The Music” dressed in white go-go boots, a pair of green hot pants (emblazoned with the phrase “Kisses” on the front and a heart on the ass), a cropped athletic sweater, and a tie. Thank you Britney Spears for this best dressed moment.

“I Love Rock N Roll” sees Britney straddling the guitar from her Femme Fatale Tour days, and she is absolutely fearless as she writhes atop the moving prop. Rocker-chicney rules!

“Everytime” appears later in the show; however, it remains largely unchanged. Britney’s dark angel costume for “Baby One More Time/Oops” received an update though, and it is possibly one of the best looks from the show.

Fans descend into the depths of a club for the neon explosion of the “Scream And Shout” section, where the addition of lasers to the staging is readily apparent. A new costume and, inexplicably, a Missy Elliott dance break are new additions before the set closes out with “Pretty Girls.” Yup, that’s still there.

“Slave 4 U” receives yet another new costume, this one featuring some BDSM-inspired accessories. The set segues into yet another updated section. Britney is at her most playful while trotting around the stage in a plastic red skirt and bra during “If You Seek Amy,” but she loses the skirt for a raunchy performance of “Breathe On Me” and “Touch Of My Hand.”

“BOM” sees Spears and her ladies writhing through a variety of scandalous body rolls. Sexney lives, and she truly shines during “TOMH.” Taking a page from her “3” music video, Britney and two male dancers get up close and personal in an impressively athletic onstage threesome. B executes a flawless back handspring, and may in fact by registering to compete in the next Olympic games with the gymnastic performance.

One more costume change, this time into a look borrowed from Poison Ivy, and Britney Spears is back to close out Piece of Me with the original ending. Spears fearlessly leaps from her “Toxic” tree, proclaims herself stronger than yesterday, and dances until the world (or at least the show) ends. And that’s a wrap folks…

Remixed, reimagined, hugely iconic.

The new version of Piece of Me manages to maintain so many positive attributes from it’s original run; however, Britney has really taken things to the next level. Her choreography is sharper, her hair is whipping like there is no tomorrow, her costumes are on point and decidedly true to form, and the show is fresher than ever.

Britney performed the show with a renewed sense of energy, and she truly shines at the helm of the production. The popstar is reminding fans and critics alike exactly why she has been a mainstay on the scene for more than fifteen years, and we think that you may want to book a plane down to Vegas in the next few months…
