Britney Spears is well and truly ready to comeback with a vengeance and her two-year stint in Vegas is going to be proof of this.
Following a disastrous performance on the UK’s The X Factor
in 2008 in which she mimed through her hit single, “Womanizer” and a problematic 2011 tour, Brits has come out fighting stating that she will be singing live for the show.
Britney is due to begin her a two-year stint at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood casino on December 27. Despite claims reported last week that she “hadn’t had that [lip-syncing vs live singing] conversation”
yet with Caesars Entertainment, the Las Vegas Sun
confirmed on Monday that she would indeed be singing live.
Britney has been working hard in preparation for the residency. She said: “I’m very ready for this. I’m ready physically, mentally – definitely.” The VP of Entertainment for Caesars, Kurt Melien, agreed adding, “She’s in the physical shape and vocal shape to sing the entire show.... [Britney] is super pumped… and has already been working out and rehearsing ever since negotiations began.”
It appears that the “Toxic” singer can’t wait to start the shows. “I love Las Vegas, and the energy is really, really good. The show will be completely different from what everybody might be expecting. It’s the best project I’ve ever tackled.”
The show certainly sounds like it will live up to the razzle dazzle of Vegas. It will feature snow, water and rain with Planet Hollywood President David Hoenemeyer calling it “an explosive theatrical experience.”
The 90-100 minute show will feature 21 of Britney’s songs and include a mixture of classic hits through to some new singles from her eighth studio album. That album is due for release December 3. Plenty of time for fans to get familiar with the songs before her residency begins.
