It got the nation talking, but it seems like Hardy and Miller's troubles are only just beginning, with Broadchurch
confirmed to be returning for a third series!!
The hugely popular crime drama, following the careers and lives of DI Hardy (a grumpy looking David Tennant) and Miller (the wonderful Olivia Colman), ended spectacularly on ITV in the UK recently and left tongues wagging and Twitter ablaze with thoughts and theories. But there is still more to come for the little seaside town, with ITV confirming it will be back in the future.
The show airs on BBC America in the U.S., and has attracted huge audiences on both sides of the pond. The U.S. even remade the show as Gracepoint
, which aired on FOX.
ITV’s Steve November and Victoria Fea, director of drama and controller, respectively, have recommissioned the show. Creator Chris Chibnall and Jane Featherstone are staying on as the executive producer team.
“We’ve been overwhelmed that 9 million people every week have continued to join us on the twists and turns of ‘Broadchurch.’ This third chapter has been a glint in my eye for a long time and I’m thrilled to be writing these characters once again," said creator and writer Chibnall.
Both series have so far earned audiences of over 9 million in the UK, proving its popularity and leaving little doubt that it would be back. But for all the fans, it is nice to know we haven't seen the last of Tennant staring moodily out to sea.
