Your Bucket List Of Must-See Films

Watch the five, must-see movies before you die. From horror to comedy genres, you have to watch the films with family, friends, and other loved ones.

Last year was considered a success in the entertainment industry. Movies like Moonlight, Jackie, and Manchester by the Sea resurrected taboo topics in enigmatic fashion. Homosexuality in the communities of people of color, the trauma of losing a loved one, and the bottoms of alcoholism were brought to life on-screen.

Audiences were entertained, but they were also enlightened.

Who said people could only learn from books?

If they want to watch other fantastic films, then here are the five, must-see films of all time.

1. Juno

The movie Juno was directed by Jason Reitman, and the film’s storyline was animated by the colorful cast of Ellen Page, Michael Cera, J.K. Simmons, and Allison Janney. Page played Juno MacGuff, a junior in high school who got pregnant by her best friend Paulie Bleeker (Cera). They had to figure out whether they wanted to keep their baby, or give their firstborn to another family. Even though Reitman’s plot seemed simple enough, he and the actors crafted an honest, coming-of-age movie about the lows and highs of love, sex, and the in-between.

2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Jack Nicholson starred in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest as Randle Patrick McMurphy, a petty criminal who pled insanity. McMurphy was taken to a mental institution, so a psychiatrist could evaluate his mental health. McMurphy stayed as a patient, and his presence breathed life into the hospital and patients. However, his unruly behavior was seen as a major problem in the eyes of Nurse Ratched, an older woman with a penchant for discipline. Did he escape from her clutches alive?

3. Requiem for a Dream

Darren Aronofsky terrified audiences once again with his 2000 flick Requiem for a Dream. He told a story about the depths of drug addiction with his critically acclaimed cast of Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans. Each individual was hooked on either prescription medications or street drugs, and their lives revolved around dealing, depositing, and doping. Their highs allowed them to chase their dreams of either fame, fortune, or fashion, but their dreams came at a heavy price. They were willing to pay.

4. Little Miss Sunshine

The movie Little Miss Sunshine was a lighthearted comedy about the importance of family. The beginning showed audiences an atypical, suburban brood; there were the hard-working parents, suicidal uncle, brooding teenager, eccentric grandfather, and carefree child. They were distant; they each had their separate lives, but their family dynamic changed when the little girl, Olive, wanted to compete in a beauty pageant out-of-state. The competition brought them closer together, even though they had to fall apart.

5. Seven

David Fincher’s Seven was one of the most nail-biting crime thrillers of 20th century film. Actors Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman compelled audiences to investigate the film’s serial murders with them.

As the detectives struggled to find their killer, they were puzzled by the man’s methods of torture. He had murdered his victims by incorporating a fatal punishment for each of the Bible’s seven deadly sins: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. While the detectives tried to stop him, the criminal was going to fulfill his plan.
