‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Turns 19 & Sarah Michelle Gellar Commemorates The Event!

It’s hard for us to believe that Buffy The Vampire Slayer first hit our screens 19 years ago, but what does Buffy’s portrayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, think?

For a lot of us, it is very hard to believe that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is 19 years old. Many of us millennials and older grew up on the Buffy girl power message. We wanted to be a part of the Scooby gang and fight the forces of evil; however we got the pleasure of watching it instead for seven amazing years. Sarah Michelle Gellar brought Buffy to life along with Alyson Hannigan, who played her best friend Willow, and Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander, who were the core of of the show. These three were not fighting the dead  and undead unguided because they also had Rupert Giles, the fearless watcher/librarian, to help along the way, played by Anthony Stewart Head.

The show had many other key players, but those four mentioned above were the heart and soul of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Gellar posted a very touching message on the 19th anniversary of our beloved show. Take a look at what she had to say.

19 years ago tonight, I got to introduce you to Buffy The Vampire Slayer (and #mrpointy too) thank you for taking the incredible journey with me and continuing still. I am and forever will be #grateful

She is not lying about the journey. Buffy was not just a show about a girl chosen to fight demons. It was a show that taught us about love, friendship, loyalty, life, death, high school, college, and so much more. This show always hit the key issues going on in the world and handled them with such grace. Many of us can say that we credit some of our success in life to Buffy and the Scoobies for everything they shared with us. Joss Whedon did an amazing job with this show and we are all forever grateful for what it gave to us.
