Bungie Exorcised Peter Dinklage From Destiny Game?!

Bungie exorcises Peter Dinklage from Destiny. Nolan North, who has also done voices for Assassin’s Creed, will be his replacement.

The latest installment, Destiny: The Taken King will now star Nolan North, who has also done voices for Assassin’s Creed and Charted, but as a replacement for Peter Dinklage.

The switch comes after Ghost’s silence in the last two expansion pack releases. This is not a mere substitution, oh no.  ALL of Dinklage’s previous dialogue is being re-recorded.  This will erase Dinklage’s presence from the game altogether.  The Game’s creative director, Luke Smith, told Game Informer: “We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty”.

In the same report  Bungie claims this is being done “to create a consistent storytelling experience from beginning to end”,  but there may be a bit more to the decision than that.  When Destiny was alpha tested, Dinklage’s performance came immediately under fire for sounding unconvincing.  While the writing has also been given some of the blame, North is in and Dinklage is out.  North is reportedly enthusiastic about his new role. He is bringing his own personality to the role and says that he did not listen to any of the previous dialogue so he could form his own version of the character.

Ghost is a constant presence in the Destiny saga and North hopes he will be providing the vocals long term.
