Stars of the critically acclaimed ABC show Bunheads came together one last time to make a farewell video for their fanbase.
The series, from the creator of Gilmore Girls Amy Sherman-Palladino, won a Television Critics Association Award for Youth Programming and was officially cancelled by ABC Family last month. Bunheads followed a former Vegas Showgirl (Sutton Foster) as she settled down into life as a ballet teacher at a small dance academy in a Southern California town. Although the series was a critical hit, it didn’t have the audience to stay on the air.
After the cancellation was announced, some of the show’s key members came together to film a farewell dance. The dance was choreographed by Marguerite Derricks and was set to Elton John’s “Blues to Baby and Me.” It featured some of the show’s most memorable dances, i.e. the dance set to They Might Be Giants’ “Istanbul (Not Constantinople).” Unfortunately, Sutton Foster was unavailable and Kaitlyn Jenkins couldn’t perform due to an injury, but Julia Goldani Telles, Bailey Buntain and Jeanine Mason were all featured in the video. Amy Sherman-Palladino directed the video.
Other dancers featured in the video were Matisse Love, Ra’Jahnae “Rae Rae” Patterson, Colleen Craig, Maine Kawashima, Eli Gruska, Adam Bernstein, Edgar Khacaturov, Kara Hess and Micah Moch.
After the dance, the video ends with, “for everyone who came to play in our sandbox- We thank you.”
