Superstar DJ Calvin Harris was rushed to the hospital on Friday after a horrific car accident in Los Angeles.
The 32 year old DJ was a passenger in an SUV that was en route to the airport, where he was due to fly out. Harris' vehicle was rammed by a VW beetle driven by a juvenile. The Los Angeles Police Department has told Entertainment Tonight that the accident occurred in the 3500 block of Coldwater Canyon Ave. at around 11pm.
Harris sustained a cut on his nose and was rushed to a nearby local hospital. After being seen by a doctor, the DJ immediately phoned his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
“Taylor was very scared when she got a call from Calvin saying he had been in a terrible accident,” an anonymous source told HollywoodLife. “Her first reaction was to ask if he needed her to be with him, but Calvin told her everything was ok and he was just a little shaken up.”
“He broke the news to her quite gently because he didn’t want Taylor fretting too much,” the source added.
Despite his injuries, Calvin allegedly left the hospital against the advice of doctors after being told that there were no private rooms available.
He seems to be recuperating just fine since a picture of him has emerged on Saturday riding on the passenger side of another vehicle, a mere few hours after the accident.
Harris was meant to fly out because he was scheduled to perform at the nightclub Omnia in Las Vegas that Friday night but, understandably, was forced to cancel.
"Adam's [Calvin Harris' real name is Adam Wiles] transport was involved in a collision this evening on the way to the airport. As a result he will be unable to perform at Omnia tonight. He has been examined by doctors and told to rest for a few days," his official Facebook page announced.
Harris also cancelled a performance at Alabama's Hangout fest on Saturday night. The festival's Twitter account confirmed this in their own announcement.
Calvin Harris is unable to perform tonight. All of us at Hangout wish him and everyone involved in last night's collision a speedy recovery.
