Over the past couple of months, Lindsay Lohan has been on hiatus from the party scene. She has been following her mandatory 90-day stint in rehab.
She has an upcoming film that will be released on August 2 called The Canyons.
This Paul Schrader erotic thriller focuses on a scheming movie producer named Christian (played by porn star James Deen), who discovers his girlfriend Tara (Lohan)’s past affair with a fellow actor.
As the premiere date continues to get closer, Lohan’s director came forward to talk about the troubled starlet.
“Tardiness, unpredictability, tantrums, absences, neediness, psychodrama—-yes, all that, but something more, that thing that keeps you watching someone on screen, that thing you can’t take your eyes off of, that magic, that mystery,” Schrader wrote in an article that was attained by E! News.
In his article, he also compared the troubled starlet to the legendary Marilyn Monroe.
"Monroe and Lohan exist in the space between actors and celebrities, people whose professional and personal performances are more or less indistinguishable," Schrader wrote. "We call them ‘troubled,’ ‘tormented,’ ‘train wrecks’ — but we can’t turn away. We can’t stop watching. They get under our skin in a way that controlled performers can’t."
Ever since Lohan was cast for the film, Canyons has been surrounded by controversy. Reportedly, she had diva moments on the set that included telling Deen to get his “expletive together” and “do his expletive job!”
While there are no reports if Lohan will be attending the premiere, USA Today reported that Lohan will be heading to New York to reunite with her family and finish her court ordered 30 days of community service and 18 months of psychological therapy.
