Looks like it is tough sailing ahead for Captain Hook, as he's about to meet his enemy Captain Silver...
It was just reported a few days ago that the role of Captain Silver, Captain Hook's arch nemesis, has been cast on Disney's hit ABC television show Once Upon a Time. He will be the latest of many characters related to Captain Killian Hook's storyline to show up over the past few seasons.
Last season Captain Hook's dad joined his old boss and brother, and we're noticing a trend. Many of the characters who are or were close to Hook are treasure-loving pirates. Now, we are going to meet some new treacherous and good characters in season 5B. One of Hook's oldest enemies is coming back to stir up trouble. The new villain is Captain Silver, and he'll be played by Costas Mandylor.
Because the creators of the show and the writers didn't share a lot about this new character, the fans and entertainment magazines have to guess what his role will be within the fantastical world.
According to ComicBook, "ET speculates that Captain Silver could turn out to be Captain Long John Silver, the cunning and opportunistic pirate first made famous in Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel, Treasure Island. Disney later adapted Stevenson's tale into 1950 live-action film and gave it a sci-fi update for the 2002 animated feature, Treasure Island."
Even if Once Upon a Time hasn't given all the details, ET's own Leanne Aguilera got a little scoop from the cast. As season 5B is returning soon, the Storybrooke fans are getting a little scoop on the actor set to play a new pirate on the show.
According to Aguilera," ...The Once Upon a Time creators have deviated from the Disney path many times in the past with their signature twists on other classics from the Victorian Era... so perhaps this Captain Silver will fit in nicely with a certain pirate family. (You know which one we're talking about!)."
Once Upon a Time returns with its 100th episode on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Will you be tuning in? Let us know below!
