Country superstar Carrie Underwood has come out of the closet in support of sex-sex marriage in a “What Would Jesus Do” moment that has the LGBT community applauding (and religious groups shaking their heads, no doubt).

The American Idol winner is an Oklahoma girl who was raised Baptist and now attends a “gay friendly” church in Tennessee with her hubby, Mike Fisher. In a recent interview with The Independent, Carrie said she “believes everyone deserves to love whomever he or she chooses.”

“As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry,” Carrie said. “I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”

Despite the staunch beliefs the church has in regards to same-sex marriage and the LGBT community, Carrie says “God wants Christians to love others.”

She continued, “It’s not about setting rules, or [saying], ‘Everyone has to be like me.’ No. We’re all different. That’s what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody.”
